Hey Guys, I was lucky enough to be invited to the Miss Guided SS14 Press Party yesterday evening. I caught my train at two thirty and headed on a three hour journey to meet Ashleigh. She unfortunately couldn't meet me at the train station so I had to make my own way via the underground. I was really scared as I've never figured it out before especially by myself. But a lovely lady who was sat next to me on the train sneaked a look at my texts and once I got off the train she guided me in the right direction which was very kind of her. The tube was so crowded especially at rush hour however I managed to find Ashleigh on Oxford Street and we tried to find the venue. It was cold and rainy and I couldn't get over how busy it was everyone was constantly bumping into one another, we were half an hour late. It was quite difficult to find down a back alley. Anyway as soon as we walked through into the show space it was a nice open layout and very laid back. I had never been to a press party before so I was expecting something different. The SS14 clothes were colour co-ordinated on rails there were lots of pastels and bright coloured prints, scuba fabrics which I think are a brilliant idea to bring into fashion. Even though sometimes the material can feel cheap and not as smooth as cotton or silk against the skin it still hugs the female body shape and really enhances your natural curves.
The pastel collection caught my eye and I was inspired instantly, I had recently bought a pink silk blouse from H&M in the sale and I am dying for them to bring more pieces into the stores in this kind of style. They remind me of what Lana Del Rey would wear in her American Dream Land, the colour palette was very light and girly, with floral applique and embroideries. It almost felt like night wear, with the white lace slips and silky sport shorts. If night wear comes back into trend I will be over the moon, I've collected old nighties for a while and to be able for it be fashionable is a bonus for me. I pretty much only focussed on this part of the collection because it felt new to me and interesting. I'm a girly girl at heart and can't wait for the spring to arrive. The overall feel to this part of the collection was very Femme Fatale perhaps inspired by the movie Pretty Baby or perhaps even the 60s. For example Lana rocked a low cut silk blouse in her National Anthem music video or perhaps Sydney from American Hustle. Either way the silks were my favourite part of the evening. Ashleigh and I tried some fancy meringues that looked like garlic, but were very yummy and gooey inside. We drank coke from jam jars which I found fascinating. We got our photo taken with an awesome photographer, it was so playful and fun wish we had more time to take loads more photos.
I managed to meet Kayla Hadlington at last, she was such a doll, I also briefly spoke to Leanne and Amy which was amazing we nattered about Lookbook. Leanne was just as gorgeous as I had imagined in person, flawless hair and style. It was so great to have the opportunity to talk beyond social media platforms and I can't wait for any more events to pop up. Although it was expensive to travel just for an hour and a half its definitely worth meeting these inspirational ladies. We picked up a Miss Guided goody bag pretty quick and headed for the last train home at nine fifteen, I arrived back home at one in the morning, it was such a long day but I had so much fun, thank you Miss Guided!
Lots of love,
